Mary S. Genevieve, MS, MD, ABPN

I am a board certified neurologist working in private practice since 1997. As a general neurologist, I have over two decades of experience evaluating and treating many disorders of the nervous system, including, the brain and spinal cord. Neurological diseases and conditions include headaches, movement disorders, demyelinating diseases, head trauma, dementia, and many more. I see patients in my clinical practice for consultations, follow-up visits, therapeutic injections, and EMG (electromyography exams). Finally, I am a legal expert witness for case reviews and reports, testimony, and Independent Medical Examinations.

Muskegon, Michigan is where I was born and grew up as the seventh of eight children, five girls and three boys. I left that full house to earn my bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University. Then I left that large university to serve for two years as a Peace Corps Volunteer in a small village in The Gambia, West Africa. After awhile, I realized that the size of the place didn't matter, I just wanted to learn science. When I returned to the U.S., I worked doing research with Food and Drug Administration Center for Drugs and Biologics. I received my master’s degree in physiology from Georgetown University, and then scored my medical degree from George Washington University. During my residency in Philadelphia, I had my two children, Carolyn and Henry, who are my most challenging and rewarding education of all. It didn't take long before I found my way to San Luis Obispo, California, a place to raise my children and to grow my medical practice, and a lovely place that I feel proud to call my home.
